Pencil disappears on mill scale and a fine marker burns off at the arc, which is why soapstone stays in the fabricator's apron. The trouble is holding stock, tape and stone at once on a table. The T1 Tomahawk takes the stone in the holder on its case, so the hand on the tape is the hand that marks: reading, laser line and mark from one grip. The dimension is saved on the tool at the same time, so the cut list does not depend on a mark surviving handling.

The video loads soapstone into the holder on the T1 case, then measures across a steel plate on a fixture table with the green line down the blade and marks at the reading. One hand, one tool, on a surface where a pencil line would not show and would not last through fit-up.
