Against an obstruction the mark you need is often on the side of the tool you cannot reach, which is how a measurement ends up transferred by eye. The T1 Tomahawk's green line runs more than five inches out on both sides of the body, so you pencil where it is comfortable rather than where the housing sits. The mark still lands on the reading.
