Can you read extrusion lengths in decimal inches?

Machined parts arrive on a drawing in decimals, and converting 9.66 into sixteenths at the saw is a step where a part gets scrapped rather than made. The M1 Caliber shows the length in decimal inches directly, so the figure on the print is the figure on the readout with nothing done to it in between. Blade width comes out of the reading as well, which is what makes the cut length and the called-out dimension the same number.

Aluminium extrusion is cut on a miter saw with the M1 Caliber mounted at the fence. The display shows readings as decimals rather than fractions, stepping through figures including nought point two four and nine point six six as the stock is slid along. The extrusion is clamped and cut at each reading.
