Working to metric drawings usually means buying a second tape and carrying both. On the T1 Tomahawk the graduations live on the blade, so imperial to metric is a reel swap rather than a new tool: pull the blade and hook, fit the metric reel, and the same body reads millimetres. A couple of minutes and no second instrument in the bag.

The blade carries the graduations, so changing units on the printed scale is a blade change rather than a new tool. Pull the imperial blade and hook, fit the metric blade, and the same body is now a metric tape. It takes a couple of minutes and no tools beyond what comes in the box.
