The usual order is measure, mark, then set a square to the mark, and every one of those handoffs adds a little. Working from the T1 Tomahawk turns it around: the green line is the reference and the square slides up to meet it, so there is no pencil mark in the middle for the square to sit slightly off. The reading stays on the display while you do it, so the length is still there when the board goes to the saw.
