How do you replace a damaged tape measure blade?

A cut or kinked blade normally means buying another tape, and on a digital tool that would mean replacing the electronics along with it. The T1 Tomahawk's reel is a serviceable part: back out the screws, swap the reel, reseat the reader module and close the shell. Five minutes and a replacement blade puts the same tool back in service.

You don't replace the tool, you replace the blade. A Phillips screwdriver and a replacement reel is the whole job: back the screws out, pop the old reel free, slide the fresh one in and loop it around, reseat the reader module on top, then close the shell. Five minutes and the tape is back in service.
