Ordering concrete is a one-way decision: short and you are cold-jointing a footing, long and you are paying for a truck to leave with your money in it. The T1R Range takes length, width and depth as three shots into an open excavation and returns the volume on the tool, so the figure is worked from the hole that actually got dug rather than from the dimension on the drawing. Nobody has to climb down into the trench to hold a tape.

An excavation is measured on a site with an excavator and a plate compactor working alongside and timber formwork already set against the trench wall. Three readings are taken with the tool, shooting down the length, then across the width, then the depth, and the display returns sixty-six cubic feet. The trench is never entered to take a measurement.
