How far does the laser line reach past the tape?

Mark a wide board and the line has to reach the far edge, or you set the tape down, walk around and pick the mark up again, which is where the drift starts. The T1 Tomahawk projects a green line more than three and a half inches to either side of the reading, so one pass crosses the stock. The number is already held on the display, so the mark and the measurement cannot disagree with each other.

The T1 Tomahawk sits on a board clamped to a shop bench, the display reading in the eighteens. The green line runs out past the blade in both directions, well clear of the tape body, and a red speed square is set against it. The line falls the same distance either side of the graduation, so the cut can be marked from whichever side the saw is standing on.
