Ordering plank flooring means turning a room into a square-foot figure and then into boxes, and the usual method is a tape, a phone calculator and a number written on the back of a delivery note. The tool is held out and readings are taken wall to wall without walking the room, the display showing a calculation screen rather than a single length. Nothing is written down between the two measurements.
