Measuring to the wall next to the one you meant
- Layout
- Accuracy
- Low Light
In a corner two surfaces can be inches apart at the far end, and a laser dot you cannot see could be sitting on either. The green line on the T1R Range shows up on painted brick in a dim basement, so you watch it land on the face you actually want before taking the reading. The difference between the two walls is small enough to pass unnoticed on paper and large enough to matter at the saw.
Why a visible line helps
- Adjacent faces are easy to confuse
- An invisible dot gives you no feedback
- The green line shows on painted brick
- Works in a dim basement or crawlspace
- Check the face before you take the shot
A dim basement with painted brick walls. The T1R Range is held low and its green laser line runs up the masonry towards the corner, clearly visible against the grey block, with the display reading 51 1/16. The line is walked between the two adjacent faces so the difference between them is visible before the shot is taken.
