On a double miter facing inward the length you want is not the length the blade cuts to, which is why the second cut is where the piece gets ruined. Setting the M1 Caliber's blade offset to 45 and choosing inside or outside edge means the display already carries the compensation. Zero on that edge, slide to the number and cut once.
