Waste on a trim job is decided before the first cut, by which pieces come off which stick. Cut the longest first out of habit and a sixteen-footer yields two usable lengths instead of four. With the cut list already on a T1M's e-paper screen you can see every length you owe before you start, and the M1 Caliber lets you take them off one board in whatever order fits, sliding to each figure rather than re-measuring. The offcut left over is the smallest one available.

The video shows a saved list on the tape's screen, several lengths at once, then works at the saw with the M1, taking one cut after another off the same board at 20 and then 34 and change. Nothing is re-measured between cuts. The list is the plan, and the material gets consumed against it.
