How do you measure to a round column?

A hook slides off a curved face, so a measurement to a steel column is really a measurement to wherever the blade happened to settle. The T1 Tomahawk's laser gives a fixed point on the curve and the green line shows where on the column the reading is landing before it is saved. Column centres and clearances come off a point you chose deliberately.

A curved face is the worst thing to hook a blade on. Measuring to a steel column, the laser gives you a fixed point on the curve instead of a hook that slides off centre, and the green line shows you where on the column the measurement is actually landing before you save it.
