How do you put a drill bit on a measurement without marking it?

Spotting a hole normally goes measure, pencil, punch, then hope the bit does not walk off the dimple, and on a board every one of those steps has slop in it. The T1 Tomahawk lays a green line at the reading and leaves it there, so the bit is brought down onto the line itself instead of onto a mark standing in for it. The number behind the line stays on the display, so the next hole starts from the measurement rather than from the last hole.

The tape is laid along a board and the green line falls across it, the display reading twenty-one. A drill bit is brought down to the line and the hole is bored on it, with the line still showing through afterwards. Nothing is pencilled or punched on the board before the bit touches it.
