Locating an appliance cutout in a countertop
- Countertops
- Cabinets & Millwork
- Accuracy
A cutout is the one dimension on a countertop with no tolerance in either direction: cut it small and the unit will not drop, cut it large and the gap shows for the life of the kitchen. The T1R Range lays a green line across the opening so the cut is set out from a straight reference rather than from the cabinet below, and each figure goes to the tablet before the slab is ever ordered.
Why the cutout has no tolerance
- Small and it will not drop in
- Large and the gap shows for good
- T1R green line gives a straight reference
- Set out from the line, not the cabinet
- Figures reach the T1R Range tablet first
An appliance opening framed into a kitchen island is measured, the unit sitting in a plywood surround with the finished countertop alongside. A green line runs across the opening and the blade is worked along it in turn. A tablet beside the work shows the readings filling in as each is captured.
