Measuring between two points you cannot stand at
- Framing
- Layout
- Remodeling
Some spans have no good end to work from: a beam pocket to the far wall, one side of an opening to the other, with joists and a brick face in between. Hooking a blade means standing somewhere you cannot stand. The T1R Range takes the distance point to point from where you are, so the figure comes off the span itself rather than off two separate measurements added together with a guess in the middle.
How the span gets taken
- Neither end is somewhere you can stand
- Point to point across the span itself
- No two measurements added together
- T1R takes it from where you are
- The T1R Range saves the span, not the parts
A renovation in a brick building is measured with exposed brickwork on one side and timber joists and a beam overhead, sawdust on the surfaces. The tool is held up and worked through its menu, taking a reading across the span rather than along a surface. Nothing is hooked and nothing is held at either end.
