Pushed against a wall or under an overhang, the hook end is the end you cannot get to, so the usual answer is a bent blade and mental arithmetic. Two clicks switch the T1 Tomahawk's reference to the back of the body: set it against the surface, pull away, and the display already carries the tool's length. Corners and overhangs read directly.
