Carrying a tape and a laser means one of them is always in the other hand or back in the truck. On a metal stud layout that costs real time: the partition line is a laser shot down the corridor, but the track cut is a blade pull off a corner. The T1R Range puts both in one housing with one display and one saved list, so the tool that shoots across the bay is the tool that reads 17 1/8 off a stud. Nothing gets transcribed between them.

The video works a metal stud track on a bare concrete floor: readings come off the blade at close range, 17 1/8 and 21, while the green laser runs out across the bay for the long dimension. Same tool, same screen, no swapping. It is the ordinary reason people carry two instruments, shown as one.
