The reasonable worry about a replaceable blade is that a swap turns an accurate tool into an approximate one. On the T1 Tomahawk the measurement comes from a pattern printed on the blade and read by a sensor in the case, so a new blade brings its own reference with it. The tool self-calibrates on the fresh pattern instead of needing a bench standard and an adjustment. A five-minute repair with a screwdriver, and the readings are the readings again.
