Marking aluminium extrusion in metric with a laser line

Extrusion is specified in millimetres almost everywhere it is used, and a shop that converts to fractions to suit its tape is inventing error before the saw starts. The T1 Tomahawk switches to metric and lays a green line at the reading, so the mark lands on an anodised face where a pencil would barely show. The figure is captured at the same time, so the next piece in the set is cut from the number rather than from the line.

Aluminium extrusion is marked with the tool switched to a metric blade, the graduations visible on screen as the green line lands across the profile. The stock is held in a red vise-style clamp on the bench. The laser line rather than a pencil defines where the cut goes.
