Historic sash replacements are made to the opening rather than picked from a size chart, so every unit is a one-off and a note about which opening it belongs to matters as much as the number. The T1 Tomahawk measures from the back of the tool, which is what lets you take a width off the bottom of a jamb nobody can reach past. Each figure goes to the phone as it is taken, where the note gets attached to it.

Measurements are taken for a historic window replacement in a gutted room, wall studs and rafters exposed around a double-hung wood window. The width is taken from the bottom, measuring from the back of the tape, then the height. The reading is sent to an iPhone carried on a wrist mount and a note is added against it.
