Taking stock of the extrusion offcuts on your rack

A rack of extrusion offcuts is money already spent, but nobody uses it because nobody knows what lengths are on it, so a full stick gets cut instead. The T1 Tomahawk hooks one end and reads at the tool, and each length drops into a saved list as you work down the rack. That list is the inventory: next time a part is called for, you look for an offcut that already covers it rather than opening new stock.

Lengths of aluminium extrusion and angle stock are measured where they sit on a shop rack, the hook set on one end and the tool pulled to the other. The display steps through readings including seventy-one and an eighth and seventy-one and three-eighths as pieces are worked through, and one figure is shown in decimal. Both T-slot profile and angle are measured in the same pass.
