Using the blade and the laser on the same window
- Glazing
- Windows
- Choosing a Tool
A window opening has short dimensions you can reach across and drops you cannot. The jamb width takes the blade, hooked and pulled like any tape, while the fall to the sill below takes the laser out of the same tool, without setting one down to pick another up. Swapping tools halfway through is how an opening ends up half measured, and keeping both ranges in one hand is what avoids it.
Two ranges, one tool
- Short dimensions take the blade
- Drops and long spans take the laser
- No swapping tools mid-opening
- Both ranges in the same grip
- Half-measured openings get avoided
A T1R Range is used at an upstairs window opening in a building under renovation. The blade is pulled out across the sill with the printed scale visible, and the green laser is then fired downward from the same tool in the same grip, both readings taken without the tool leaving the hand.
